Halloween Costumes, Horror Movies and the Spooky Assembly

GANNIN is determined to make this assembly meeting as Halloween worthy as possibly by continuously trying to spook the supergeeks. Meanwhile, we discuss the Halloween costumes we wore as kids and the ones we want to wear today.  We also discuss horror movies that actually scared us in the movie theater.

We react to a Star Wars themed flyer that was handed out at a licencing show, rumors about the new Batmobile, the latest on how Shedder be portrayed in the new Ninja Turtles movie and how horror movies aren't bloody enough (according to reality).

The Assembly votes on this question, "If you had to become a creature of the night, what would it be?  A vampire, a werewolf, a zombie or something else?"

COUNTDOWN 5,4,3,2,1-DESTRUCT

You would think Admiral Kirk was trying to lure Klingons into a trap once Merchman attempts to re-route some wiring to the Epic Assembly Hall.  After the accident, he gets his share of ridicule from Admiral 80s and GANNIN.

Hoping to make everyone forget all about it, Merchman shares some news stories about The Big Bang Theory potentially ruining Raiders of the Lost Ark for everyone, the indefinite shelving of Star Wars: Detours, a group of guys harassing female cosplayers at New York Comic Con and Marvel's plan for more TV shows.

However, Admiral 80s figures out a way to make Merchman's epic fail into a theme for the day.  He decides they should do some top five countdown lists - summer blockbusters, geek movie villains and favorite Star Wars characters that are not in the main cast.

Merchman has sounded the alarms after learning there might be fake geeks among us!  Are there fake geek female cosplayers showing up at cons just wanting attention?  What about those fail moments when fake geek accusations are called out by George Takei (per the image to the right)?   Can there be MALE fake geeks?  Should there be a litmus test?  Does any of it matter and should any of us even care?  We discuss the "fake geek" debate.

Our special guest is Alex Langley, the author of The Geek Handbook: Practical Skills and Advice for the Likeable Modern Geek.  Bobby Blakey gives us a review of the highly anticipated film, Gravity.  We also learn about the return of the Thunderbirds television series.  We'll try to make sense of these dinosaur love books.  Finally J.J. Abrams apologizes to everyone who is still very angry about the science fiction movie crime known as lens flares.
During the official meeting, we discuss the most memorable celebrities we've met at comic conventions and the Geek Assembly votes on the their most desired superpowers.

Well, after all of the hype, we've now seen the first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  and we'll discuss what we thought.  Now that ABC smashed the ratings like the Hulk with that show, we get news of new comic book shows on Fox and NBC.

We discuss some sequel news as Star Wars Episode VII might include some IMAX scenes and Jude Law talks about the next Sherlock Holmes movie.  Admiral Eighties tries to convince everyone that when you grow a goatee, you might as well declare yourself a villain.

GANNIN opens the assembly meeting with thought-provoking questions for the geeks about travel on Tatooine, the most trustworthy smuggler and sequels that aren't as popular with geek audiences.

Finally, the assembly votes on who is the best Starfleet Captain.
