The Fantastic Fortress is a place for all geeks to assemble and that's why we don't like to get reports of bullying of any kind. In today's geek assembly, we take a closer look at kids that have been bullied because of their fandom.
Not long ago, we learned about Katie Goldman getting bullied for her Star Wars fandom, only to see other fans & members of the Star Wars family rally around her - inlcuding the 501st providing her with her own Stormtrooper armor.
Recently Katie's mom was made aware of a 7-year-old girl named Allison who was getting bullied for her Star Wars and Spiderman fandom. Once again, some great people in the Star Wars community and Katie herself stepped in to show some much needed support. We take a deeper look into her story and discuss the problems and challenges related to bullying.
We'll take a look at a new movie trailer about Video Games and remind Admiral 80s about a certain movie with a certain theme song that recently came out on Blu-ray.
We'll also cover geek topics such aswhich stories help kids tell the truth, the latest Disney Star Wars racer, a new name attached to Star Wars: Episode VIII , some new details on the third season of Arrow, a new DC standalone movie and which comic book character Daniel Radcliffe would like to play.
All of this and FANGIRL is back!
This episode opens up with Merchman's wife setting off an alarm at The Fantastic Fortress, costing Admiral 80s a very important Jenga victory. Once inside, she gets her superhero name and steps in for Fangirl. She also brought Merchman's D-Tech Me X-Wing Fighter Pilot figure he made at Star Wars Weekends.
And speaking of of Star Wars Weekends, Aaron Harris from Coffee With Kenobi attended all five weekends. He joins us to discuss the memories, the fandom and the best moments from his time there.
Justin Cavender (JustInCredible) from Geek Legacy shares his biggest takeaways from this year's E3.
Other geek news and topic in this episode include, gamers foiling a home burglary, unique facts about the movie Gremlins, the backstory behind the Ghostbusters song and music video, details about a new Transformers animated series, storylines from the proposed live-action Star Wars: Underworld series, the release date for the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars special, a proposed Sci-Fi Museum, the possible DC Universe movie line-up and the casting of Aquaman.
We also announce the winner of our Star Wars Rebels drawing!
All this plus Merchman is launching another podcast!
Geeks are passionate! Sometimes, the passion can turn into nerdrage. That rage can sometimes have a positive impact, while other times it might be pre-mature or even unnecessary. In today's geek assembly meeting with Jen Rhodes from the Anomaly Podcast we examine at the recent cases of nerdrage:
1. David S. Goyer's comments about She-Hulk.
2. The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.
3. The #WeWantLeia campaign aimed at adding Princess Leia merchandise to the Disney Store Star Wars line.
The Fantastic Fortress has been fully repaired and upgraded since the monster attack, and nobody is more excited than GANNIN. So much so, he leads the geek news report meeting with stories about Mark Hamill's concern about Episode VII hype, the Ant-Man director fallout, the confirmation of Billy Dee William's involvement in Star Wars Rebels, the re-release of Ghostbusters, the addition of Howard Stark to the Agent Carter series and a smelly new app.
We also announce a Star Wars Rebels prize pack drawing!
Fangirl Chat discusses the Star Wars Exclusives coming to the Disney Store.
THIS IS A REPLAY OF THE OCTOBER 1, 2013 ASSEMBLY MEETING.
Well, after all of the hype, we've now seen the first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and we'll discuss what we thought. Now that ABC smashed the ratings like the Hulk with that show, we get news of new comic book shows on Fox and NBC.
We discuss some sequel news as Star Wars Episode VII might include some IMAX scenes and Jude Law talks about the next Sherlock Holmes movie. Admiral Eighties tries to convince everyone that when you grow a goatee, you might as well declare yourself a villain.
GANNIN opens the assembly meeting with thought-provoking questions for the geeks about travel on Tatooine, the most trustworthy smuggler and sequels that aren't as popular with geek audiences.
Finally, the assembly votes on who is the best Starfleet Captain.
